MagicianAct on Education with OCPA!

This year OCPA presented the eighth stimulating season of our flagship Magic of Theatre summer camps, offering kids and teens a fun-filled, educational, and enlightening theatre experience. In a classroom atmosphere, students ages six to 18 discover the process of theatre, culminating in a staged production after just a few weeks of rehearsal and training. More than 1,600 kids have participated in our program, which helps them develop and expand their skills in acting, voice, dance, and other aspects of the theatre.
All students who sign up for our camps are cast in the show.

This summer we had three awesome weekday camps for youth six to 18.

First up in June, for 12- to 18-year-olds, was the third offering of our Youth Shakespeare Festival, featuring The Tempest; it was co-directed by Oregon Shakespeare Festival’s Tyrone Wilson and Caroline Shaffer.

The second camp, for children ages 6 to 12, was Tom Sawyer: The Musical—a musical adaptation of the Mark Twain classic and a revival of OCPA’s very first production.

The last camp of the summer was for 13- to 18-year-olds and presented one of America’s most popular musicals, West Side Story, directed by OSF’s Caroline Shaffer. The Broadway production won four Tony Awards and as a movie garnered four Oscars.

What's up for 2009? Spring Break Camp!

Spend your spring break with OCPA! We are offering a fun-filled week of dance and theatre camp for ages 5 to 12, Monday through Friday, March 23 to 27, 2009. Scholarships will be available. Please drop us a line to be put on the contact list for further information.

We will announce our summer 2009 Magic of Theatre camp offerings after the first of the year.

Please note that our camps fill up quickly. The Registration Form, Scholarship Application, and Sponsorship Form can all be downloaded from this site. You can also call 776-9118 or e-mail oregonconservatory@msn.com.

In other news, Our Latino teen theatre program, Conservatorio Bilingüe, based at Crater High School, continues to grow. This is another exciting venture that allows local Hispanic teens to learn more about their culture through theatre and storytelling. Actors from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival are participating in this program as well as in our Magic of Theatre summer camps.

Thank you, Rogue Valley, for your support!
