Fall 2014
Teens (13-19): "Creating the World of the Play: Intermediate Acting and an Introduction to Technical Theater" is a two-in-one class covering scene studies of various Shakespeare texts and is an introduction to various parts of the technical side of the theater. This class is perfect for high school students interested in expanding their "actor's toolbox" by taking an in-depth look at the actor's process with regards to classical text, AND by having a deeper understanding of the technical aspects of a show. Students will simultaneously dive into the rich, exciting text of Shakespeare and design their own showcase at the end of the class, discovering what it means to be a part of a truly "ensemble" experience. In this class you will:

  • Explore the audition process with texts from Shakespeare
  • Discover the connection between YOU and Shakespeare's plays--and figure out what the HECK he's talking about!
  • PLAY in Shakespeare scenes presented in a final showcase
  • Engage in games that will reveal the creative possibilities of light, sound, costume and more!
  • Create a portfolio of your design work
  • Design your own showcase

Taught by Caitlin Lushington. Read Bio.
